The cage for a sow has a framework (4) fixed to the ground and with a support for a trough (11) and an access (30) for entry and exit. The access has a movable barrier (20) slidably mounted on the framework between an open position in which the access is a first distance from the framework and where a space for the animal is defined, and a closed position against the framework.
