REDUCED-POTASSIUM SODIUM CHLORIDE MEDICAL MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide common salt for medicines composed of sodium chloride with a reduced potassium ion content in order to suppress ingestion of potassium ions from the outside and prevent the development of hyperkalemia.

SOLUTION: The reduced-potassium sodium chloride medical material is composed of sodium chloride crystals providing <0.07 mg/l potassium ion concentration when converted into an aqueous solution at 20% concentration. The medical material is produced as follows. An aqueous solution of sodium chloride containing potassium ions is brought into contact with an adsorbent selectively adsorbing the potassium ions to crystallize the sodium chloride crystals from an eluate at a dilute potassium ion concentration. The resultant crystals are separated and dried.
