<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for machining a connecting rod. <P>SOLUTION: In the device and the method for machining a connecting rod (15) formed of slightly case hardening steel, a large end portion (3) of the connecting rod (15) is subjected to tension to part a cap (7). Tension is applied by two tension members (23 and 28) which are inserted in an eye (4) of the connecting rod (15) and separated in a direction parallel to a rod (2).
