<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device having high reliability and long service life by preventing the occurrence of jammed paper caused by jamming or the like and to provide an image forming apparatus provided with the paper feeding device. <P>SOLUTION: This paper feeding device is composed of a feed roller 1 rotating in the direction of feeding of paper P and a separate roller 2 which is brought into pressure contact with the feed roller 1, forms a pair with the feed roller 1, and is provided with driving force in the reverse direction.
