<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector having an opening and a projection mirror which is equipped with functions for detecting a foreign matter infiltrating into the light path of a display light projected from an opening lens, and for performing lamp turn-off and power turn-off in the dangerous case. <P>SOLUTION: This projector 1 whose case body 2 is equipped with an opening 3 wherein a display light 6 outgoing from an opening lens 4 is reflected on a projecting mirror 5, and projected so as to be magnified to an external screen 11 is provided with a sensor circuit in which a sidewall 7 of the case body 2 is equipped with a sensor light emitting part 8, a mirror 9 and a sensor light receiving part 10, and a sensor light is emitted from the sensor light emitting part 8 across the light path of a display light 6, and reflected on an opposite mirror 9, and received by a sensor light receiving part 10.
