<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new contaminant removing agent which adsorbs persistent organic compounds such as PCB contained in soil without damaging the soil, easily decompose the adsorbed compounds oxidatively and makes them harmless by the photocatalysis with the use of natural energy such as sunlight, and has excellent strength, indestructibility and durability when used for a long time and can be reused as it is since this agent is not broken because this agent has moderate size and shape even when recovered. <P>SOLUTION: This agent contains wood ceramics and a photocatalyst as principal components. The photocatalyst is preferably fixed to the wood ceramics.
