<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element for efficiently reflecting obliquely transmitted light including a long wavelength range toward a light source side, and also, capable of converting the reflected/polarized light to light contributing to the improvement of front luminance without damaging the transmission/polarization characteristics of vertical incident light contributing to the front luminance. <P>SOLUTION: As for the optical element, a light condensing element (A) and an infrared reflection layer (B) are arranged. The light condensing element (A) is constituted so that at least one reflection polarizer (a) is laminated by two or more layers, and also, at least one or more phase difference layers (b) for changing the polarization characteristics are laminated by one or more layers between the reflection polarizers (a), and designed so that the transmittance of the incident light may be varied in accordance with the incident angle of the incident light, and also, the shielded light may not be absorbed but reflected by having the aforesaid combination, and the infrared reflection layer (B) is provided with transmission characteristics with reference to the incident light in a visible light region in a normal direction, provided with a reflection wavelength range in an infrared region and wherein the reflection wavelength range is changed to a short wavelength side as the incident angle in the normal direction becomes larger. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
