<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a required tension to a seat belt as early as possible at the time of collision of a vehicle, while preventing unnecessary tension from being given to the seat belt. <P>SOLUTION: A speppin-on speed Pmd of a brake pedal 26 is calculated (S20), and an allowance timeΔt till collision with a front obstacle is calculated (S50). (1) Whether a master cylinder pressure Pm is larger than a first reference value Pm1, and the speppin-on speed Pmd is larger than the first reference value Pmd is judged (S30, 40), (2) whether the floatΔt is smaller than the first reference valueΔt1 is judged (S60), and (3) whether the master cylinder pressure Pm and the speppin-on speed Pmd are larger than the second reference value Pm2, Pm2 smaller than the first reference value is judged (S70-90). When any of the conditions (1)-(3) is satisfied, tension of the seat belt is increased to a predetermined value for a predetermined time (S160). Thereby, because tension can be given to the seat belt when an urgent degree of collision to the front obstacle is high, unnecessary tension can be prevented from being given to the seat belt, and a required tension can be given to the seat belt as early as possible at the time of collision of the vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
