<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copying device and a document management system for appropriately managing the copying and taking out of secret documents or the like in a specific place and thus appropriately managing the secret documents. <P>SOLUTION: A copying device 1 reads the image of a document with a scanner 22 and records the image with an image forming part 24 onto a transfer paper P which is transported from a paper feed unit 10 on the basis of the image data of the document. A microwave sensor 19 mounted on a paper feed part 12 that feeds the transfer paper P detects whether the transfer paper P is special transfer paper P containing metallic fibers or glass fibers on which metal is vapor-deposited. When the transfer paper P on which the image is to be recorded is a transfer paper P other than the special transfer paper P, the copying device 1 inhibits recording of the image onto the transfer paper P.
