<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering gear box installed in an electric power steering device and capable of bearing impact load from a wheel without enlarging a size of a pinion. <P>SOLUTION: This steering gear box 33 is installed in the electric power steering device 31 for assisting steering force required for steering operation of a driver by an electric motor 62. A rack 34 connected to the wheel 37 through a tie rod 35 and the pinion 39 meshed with the rack and connected to a steering wheel 41 through a steering shaft 40 are housed in a box 38.
