<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel recorder for on-board use capable of automatically recording the images inside and outside of the vehicle during travel and allowing the record to be made use of as evidence in the event of an accident etc. <P>SOLUTION: The travel recorder is installed on a vehicle and records automatically the images in the specified direction while the vehicle travels. As one example of the embodiment, the arrangement is composed of an image receiving element to acknowledge the images in various directions, an optical system to send the images surrounding to the image receiving element, and a recording device to record the images acknowledged by the image receiving element. Alike a so-called flight recorder, this travel recorder records automatically as the images the situations outside and inside of the vehicle during travel.
