FIELD: mechanical engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: gear transmission has several same steps including gear wheel and wheel. Each subsequent gear wheel and each subsequent wheel is shifted with respect to the previous one by the same step. The number of steps in the gear transmission and the coefficient of overlapping of the gear transmission are related as epsilon = epsiloncn, where epsilon is the given coefficient of overlapping of the gear wheel, epsilonc is the coefficient of overlapping of the step, and n is the number of steps in the gear transmission. The angular step between the teeth of the gear wheel and wheel of each step ranges from 40 to 90o. The gears can be provided with convex profiles of the teeth.
