FIELD: foundry, non-ferrous and alloy metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves mixing boron-bearing material with powdered aluminum and providing reduction of reaction mixture in chill mold outside furnace; before mixing with powdered aluminum, roasting boron-bearing material in air at temperature of 300-5000C for 3 hours; using boron-bearing material, such as mixture of boric acid with powdered iron oxide, in the ratio of 1:1. ^ EFFECT: improved quality of ferroboron, reduced production cost owing to usage of non-expensive boron-bearing material and powdered aluminum produced at enterprise, reduced power consumption owing to employment of standard processing equipment not requiring additional retooling. ^ 1 tbl |
