PURPOSE: A transmission using a torus tooth profile is provided to be small and light, to easily produce and assemble gears, and to control forward and reverse rotations of an output gear in multiple stages by converting engagement position of first and second shift gears for multiple teeth rows of input and output gears. CONSTITUTION: A transmission using a torus tooth profile is composed of a case(10); an input gear(20) rotatively mounted at the side of the case and arranged with a torus gear tooth(23) to form a plurality of gear-tooth groups(24) in the circumferential direction; an output gear(30) rotatively mounted at the other side of the case and arranged with a torus gear tooth to form a plurality of gear-tooth groups(34) in the circumferential direction; a first shift gear(40) disposed between the input and output gears and rotatively engaged with one of the gear-tooth groups of the input and output gears; a second shift gear(50) arranged between the input and output gears and rotatively engaged with the other of the gear-tooth groups of the input and output gears; a shift shaft(60) mounted with the first and second shift gears at both ends and installed to move between the input and output gears to change engagement position of the first and second shift gears for each gear-tooth group of the input and output gears; and an operating unit(70) installed at the case to operate the motion of the shift shaft.
