PURPOSE: A method for safe telephone settlement of a credit card using the ARS(Auto Response System) receiving a credit card number through telephone buttons is provided to realize the sate credit card settlement by preventing a seller from accessing credit card information of a buyer, and process settlement between the buyer and the seller by using the ARS and the third person calling method. CONSTITUTION: After confirming the credit card settlement from the buyer, the seller requests an ARS settlement process to a system by inputting an ARS settlement request code on the talking telephone or automatically generating the code in case of the ARS(219). A guide for the online settlement is transmitted to the buyer by receiving the inputted ARS settlement requests code(204). The buyer inputs the credit card information by pushing the buttons of the talking telephone according to the guide(206). Settlement particulars inputted from the buyer are approved(210). The normal settlement is judged by respectively informing the buyer and the seller of the approved settlement particulars(216). Price is settled from the credit card of the buyer to the seller based on the approval.
