SIGNAL REPEATER, SWITCHING DEVICE, METHOD OF DETECTING CONNECTION RELATION BETWEEN THESE, AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find out a connection state between a bidirectional signal repeater and ports of an optical switch to prevent the erroneous registration of a topology and to confirm the normalcy of a link between the optical switch and the bidirectional signal repeater to prevent unnecessary switching in the case of a fault.

SOLUTION: A signal is sent to a switching means from a bidirectional signal repeater 110. An identifier is added to the sent signal. A loop back constitution is given to only one bidirectional port pair of an optical switch 100 but is not given to the other port pair. A controller 160 examines whether a reception signal of a regenerator 112 coincides with a signal transmitted from a regenerator 111 or not. With respect to the normalcy of the link between the bidirectional signal repeater and the optical switch, switching to a loop back state is performed to evaluate the quality of a returned signal.
