PURPOSE: An expansion device of an air conditioner is provided to simplify the assembly process, to minimize the air of the expansion device and the air conditioner, and to minimize noise generated in passing refrigerant through an expansion passage by shielding the noise by a refrigerant tube. CONSTITUTION: An expansion device(65) of an air conditioner is composed of a refrigerant tube(70) for passing refrigerant; an expansion tube(80) having two ends separated from each other and communicated with the refrigerant tube; a short tube orifice(90) disposed movably in the refrigerant tube to seal one communicating end of the expansion tube; a first stopper(100) arranged between each communicating end(76,78) of the expansion tube to hang the short tube orifice between two communicating ends of the expansion tube; and a second stopper(110) installed at the side of one communicating end of the expansion tube to hang the short tube orifice in the position for closing one communicating end of the expansion tube.
