PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an unauthorized access to a content stored in a storage medium. SOLUTION: This multimedia storage device 10 has a nonrestrictive area capable of accessing a client device located outside the device, and digital multimedia stored in the nonrestrictive area can be accessed by a client device. The device has a limited area 28 always incapable of accessing the client device and including digital multimedia. However, the digital multimedia in the limited area can always be accessed only by a controller 18 in the device permitting the client device to access a content included in the multimedia after the digital multimedia in the limited area is converted into an analog format in all kinds of environments.
