摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor device having a high-performance integrated circuit that uses an inexpensive glass substrate, can cope with the increase of information content, and can operate at a high speed. <P>SOLUTION: The semiconductor device has a plurality of glass substrates on which circuits having semiconductor elements are respectively formed. Each glass substrate has both or either one of a light emitting element and a light receiving element. In the light emitting element, a plurality of light emissive layers is formed in a contacting state in an electroluminescence layer formed between a pair of electrodes so that laser light may be oscillated when an electric current is made to flow to the electroluminescence layer. Therefore, signals can be transmitted between the circuits formed on the glass substrates by generating optical signals by using the laser light oscillated from the light emitting element and converting the optical signals into electric signals by means of the light receiving element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p>
