PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor for estimating the area occupancy factor in the edge part of a binary character line-drawn image with high precision using a simple constitution, properly performing an antialiasing processing, while keeping detailed information, and being able to enlarge the image with high image quality, and to provide an image processing method. SOLUTION: Concerning 2×2 blocks extracted by a block-extracting part 11, a block-classifying part 12 classifies them into one among a thin line, a black thick line, a white thick line or others. The thin lines are classified into those to be regarded as the black or white thick line and the others. The black thick line and the white thick line are shared in an image quality improvement part 13 through inversion of black and white. At the image quality improvement part 13, classification into horizontal direction, vertical direction, and the direction of 45°as a processing for the thick line through the use of an angle estimating part 21 is made, and the angle is adjusted through the use of an angle adjustment part 22. A pixel value output part 23 improves the image quality, in response to the adjusted angle, so as to output an antialias enlarged image.
