PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect directions even in an urban area or in a building regardless of surrounding environments.

SOLUTION: This direction detecting method is provided with a first step for transmitting in different directions a plurality of types of spread radio signals PN1-PN4 acquired by performing spread processing on carrier signals through the use of a prescribed spread code from a first position A; a second step for receiving the spread radio signals at a second position X at a distance from the first position; a third step for performing despreading processing on the received spread radio signals; and a fourth step for detecting the directional relation between the first position A and the second position X on the basis of the results of the despreading processing.
