<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system for a vehicle, capable of searching or offering the best route for its energy consumption rate more finely, regardless of the kind of power source in the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: In the navigation system, carrying out a route search and a guidance from a starting point to a destination point, about at least one travel lane pattern capable of being adopted in the searched routes, each energy consumption ratio is predicted with respect to the travel lane pattern, and a lane guidance is carried out on the basis of the prediction.
