PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive air-conditioning system and an air-conditioning method having high responsiveness and capable of independent controlling equivalent to VAV-type air-conditioning systems respectively mounted at each of blowout ports. SOLUTION: This air-conditioning system comprises an air-conditioning unit, a chamber 2 for distributing the air-conditioned air supplied from the air-conditioning unit to the plurality of blowout ports, a VAV unit 1 mounted at an air-conditioning unit side of the chamber 2 for comparing an actual air volume and a set air volume and controlling the air volume on the basis of a result of the comparison, remote-controllable motor dampers 3A-3D mounted at each blowout side of the chamber 2, a damper opening changing means detecting the air-conditioning environment information such as temperatures of areas air-conditioned by the air-conditioning unit, the chamber 2, the VAV unit 1 and the motor dampers 3A-3D, and changing the openings of the motor dampers 3A-3D, and a control means for tabulating the information on the opening of each damper means and changing the set air volume of the VAV unit 1.
