PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel realizing the improvement of automatic focusing performance at the time of taking a still picture. SOLUTION: A focusing state set by a focusing means when taking the still picture is designated is decided. When the decided focusing state is a focused state at a specified level or above, the focusing means is operated based on data obtained so that it may perform focusing operation by the time taking the still picture is designated. When the decided focusing state is not the focused state at the specified level or above, the focusing means is operated based on the data obtained so that it may perform the focusing operation after taking the still picture is designated.
