<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing foamed glass in which the elution of arsenic (As) and other heavy metals (cadmium, lead, hexavalent chromium, selenium or the like) to the environment is inhibited; and to provide the foamed glass. <P>SOLUTION: The foamed glass is obtained by the method comprising melting/foaming a mixture containing crushed glass and slaked lime at a temperature of 700-1,100°C while dispersing the calcium hydroxide and/or calcium oxide into the foamed glass being produced.
