<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new factor involving regulation of chromatin function. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention provides an enzyme (NHK-1) phosphorylating histone in nucleosome and found from Drosophila and a gene encoding the enzyme (NHK-1). The NHK-1 is a new factor phosphorylating 119th threonine of C terminal of histone H2A dependently on a chromatin structure. The phosphorylated site is preserved in species.
