<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image processor capable of simplifying transfer control and efficiently performing code compression. <P>SOLUTION: The color image processor 100 comprises a first storage 104 for storing image data indicated by a plurality of components, a first DMA controller 106 for transferring the image data stored in the section 104, a second storage 110 for storing the image data transferred from the first storage means by the DMA controller 106 for each of the plurality of components, a compression coder 114 for applying compression coding to the image data per block, and a writing/reading processor 108 for controlling writing/reading into/from the storage 110.
