<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an electronic paper system in which user's operability is improved by adding added information image A such as the existence of electronic data, a using condition and the usable life of electronic paper EP to a contents information image C to be displayed on a display part 2 of the electronic paper EP e.g. and presenting the image-added contents information image C to the user. <P>SOLUTION: In an information source side apparatus 40, a display information generation means 43 synthesizes contents information managed by a contents management part 41 and added information managed by an added information management part 42 and an optical writing part 44 writes display information obtained by synthesizing the contents information and the added information in the display part 2 of the electronic paper EP to hold the display in a no-power state.
