<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily connect peripheral devices to computers, and display and control the states of peripheral devices. <P>SOLUTION: A computer system is comprised of a server provided with Web pages and peripheral devices connected with the server. The peripheral devices 310, 320 and 340 store control programs unique to themselves to allow the server to receive data detected by the peripheral devices or data that indicates the states of the peripheral devices from the peripheral and to display it on the Web pages. When the peripheral devices are connected to the server, the server receives the control programs stored in the peripheral devices from them to store the programs. The server executes the control programs to display data received from the peripheral devices on the Web pages. In addition, Web pages, on which control data for the peripheral devices can be inputted, are created, and can easily be accessed from other computers connected with a network.
