The transmitter has an ultra-short laser source (7) emitting luminous flux whose wavelength lies between 1.3 micrometer and 1.6 micrometer. An optical fiber (9) is placed between a photoconductor and the laser source to transmit the luminous flux. The mobility of charge carriers of an epitaxial layer (1) of the photoconductor is higher than a preset value at ambient temperature and resistivity of the layer lies within preset range. An independent claim is also included for a high frequency electromagnetic radiation detector.
