Pole mounting system and method

Apparatus for mounting equipment to street poles is disclosed. A clamp 11 consists of a vertically split collar 12 that is fabricated from two parts 13,14 able to be secured around a street pole using fasteners 15. A rubber cuff 16 assists the collar 12 to clamp on to the pole. The clamp 11 includes an annular surface 20 with a multiplicity of teeth. Equipment is attached to the clamp with a bracket 22 that includes a curved lip 28 and a protrusion 29 which engages the teeth of the clamp to lock the equipment in a definite radial orientation. Backing member 32 is attached to the clamp with fasteners 33. The clamp can hold multiple brackets 22 in a range of radial orientations. The brackets and their attached equipment can be mounted on the clamp in a fast and simple manner.
