Application of medium containing liquid crystals (LC) to substrates comprises keeping the medium in the applicator, especially a printer, at a working temperature at which the medium is in the liquid state and the LC components are in a mesomorphic state. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) printing machine, in which the printing components, especially ink chamber, raster, transfer and friction rollers and printing and counter-printing cylinders, can be heated individually; (2) use of an ink-jet printer for printing hot melt inks with heated LC in mesomorphic phase, especially in the drop-on-demand process; (3) use of heated high-pressure spray guns for spraying heated LC mixtures in mesomorphic phase. |
