The cheese coating machine (1) and cheeseboard cleaning device (2) are located on top of each other. A method for coating cheese (5) and cleaning or scrubbing a cheeseboard (5) comprises the following steps: (A) supplying the cheese and cheeseboard; (B) placing the cheese on a first transport device (7) for transporting it through a coating machine and transferring the coated cheese to a cleaned cheeseboard; (C) placing a cheeseboard to be cleaned on a second transport device (8) for transporting it through a scrubbing device and transferring the clean cheeseboard to an output belt (6); and (D) placing the coated cheese on top of the clean cheeseboard on the output belt. The coating machine and cleaning device are arranged on top of each other. An independent claim is also included for the process apparatus, in which the coating machine and cleaning device are mounted on top of each other in a frame (9).
