<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time required for setting a call by using a PPP nonstandard message for reducing procedures and the amount of data, and further to continue call setting procedures by PPP standard procedures, even if a terminal or a PDSN does not deal with the nonstandard message. <P>SOLUTION: A method for setting the call of a packet switched network includes procedures for: establishing the radio link between an information terminal and PDSN; transmitting a PPP standard LCP Cfg-Request message from PDSN to the information terminal; a procedure for transmitting a PPP nonstandard AltPPP Cfg-Request message from the PDSN to the information terminal; responding to the AltPPP Cfg-Request message to answer nonstandard AltPPP Cfg-Response when the information terminal corresponds to the nonstandard message, and for responding to the LCP Cfg-Request message to answer a standard LCP Cfg--Response when the information terminal does not correspond to the nonstandard message; and allowing PDSN to authenticate the information terminal according to the standard or nonstandard Cfg--Response message. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
