PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for protecting streamed media content. SOLUTION: The present method includes receiving a protected digital bit stream; sending this digital bit stream to a media player; calling a first plugin for reading first header information to process the digital bit stream by the media player; sending the digital bit stream to the first plugin; and decrypting at least a part thereof. Further, the method includes calling a second plugin by reading second header information by the first plugin; sending the decrypted digital bit stream to the second plugin; sending the digital bit stream to the media player by the second plugin after processing such as thawing a part thereof; and further permitting rendering of the decrypted and processed digital bit stream by the media player.
