<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple apparatus for treating waste water, with which processing for decomposing organic matter with difficulty of degradation in waste water and the decolorization of waste water can be performed economically and efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus for treating waste water is used for continuously cleaning waste water containing organic matter with difficulty of degradation by carrying out an ozonization process and a biological treatment process successively. The ozonization process uses an ozone-contact tank, an ozone autolyzing tank and a residual ozone removing tank each of which is divided by movable walls. The gas which contains oxygen and ozone and is discharged from the ozone-contact tank is made to pass through an ozone decomposing tower and converted into an oxygen-containing gas and the oxygen-containing gas is introduced into the residual ozone removing tank in order to adsorb, decompose and remove residual ozone.
