<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device and a liquid crystal display device using it. <P>SOLUTION: This surface light source device comprises: a light guide body 36 having a light entering surface 36a for entering light, a light emitting surface 36b for emitting the light entered from the light entering surface 36a and a facing surface 36c facing the light emitting surface 36b with prisms formed thereon; a cold-cathode tube 34 arranged along the light entering surface 36a of the light guide body 36; a reflector 37 having two ends which form an opening for emitting light emitted from the cold-cathode tube 34 and catch the light guide body 36 from the thickness direction, and used for reflecting the light emitted from the cold-cathode tube 34 toward the light entering surface 36a by surrounding the cold-cathode tube 34; and a plurality of optical sheets 38 and 39 arranged oppositely to the light emitting surface 36b and the facing surface 36c. The light emitting surface 36a has a grained surface area 36e with a dot pattern formed thereon and a positioning area 36d without forming any dot pattern; an edge 37a of the reflector 37 is positioned in the positioning area 36d. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
