<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose based optical film with extremely stable display quality by suppressing variation of a retardation value associated with variation of humidity, which is a drawback of a conventional cellulose based retardation film, while making full use of advantage of saponification lamination of a cellulose based protective film, a method for manufacturing the same, a polarizing plate protective film, a polarizing plate, and a display device. <P>SOLUTION: The optical film is characterized by containing a rod-like compound with a maximum absorption wavelength (λmax) of its ultraviolet absorption spectrum in a solution being shorter than 250 nm, a cellulose derivative, a hydrolysate or a polycondensate of a reactive metal compound, and a plasticizer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
