<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a projecting distance of a handrail, to install the handrails different in diameters, to install the handrails on a Tatami; and to install the handrails on a sliding door periphery having a frontage, when fixing the handrails and handrail support metal fittings. <P>SOLUTION: This connecting member can reduce the projecting distance since the installation surface of a handrail support member is thinned more than the other part. The connecting member is fixed to the handrail support member for installing the handrails different in diameters. The connecting member is installed on a floor material under the Tatami for installing the handrails on the Tatami.
