The purpose of the present invention is to provide a low-cost and highly precise multilingual translation device and multilingual translation method. This multilingual translation device is provided with: a translation request acquisition unit 1 for acquiring a translation request for a character string in a first language to be translated into a second language; a character string extraction unit 4 for extracting, from a language database 3, a translation source character string corresponding to the character string to be translated, for each of a plurality of languages for which character string data is stored in an other-language database 3 that stores character string data for the plurality of languages including the first language, if character string data of the second language is not stored in the other-language database 3; a translation unit for causing the translation source character string to be translated into a third character string of the second language, using a translation server 53; and a translation result selection unit 8 for selecting a specific character string in the third character string as a translation result. |
