PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress reduction in accuracy of measuring a speed of conveyance of a recording medium.SOLUTION: A conveyance device comprises: a drive roll 81 which is rotationally driven by a motor 83 and conveys a first recording medium or a second recording medium narrower in the width than the first recording medium; a driven roll 82 which includes contact members 822a and 822d rotating in contact with the first recording medium at the time of conveyance of the first recording medium and not contacting the second recording medium at the time of conveyance of the second recording medium and contact members 822b and 822c rotating in contact with the recording medium at the time of conveyance of the first recording medium and the second recording medium, and presses the recording medium against the drive roll 81; a rotary encoder 84 which is provided on the end of a rotation shaft 821 of the driven roll 82 and measures the speed of rotation of the driven roll 82; and a pressing member 85 which suppresses inclination of the rotation shaft 821 with respect to a rotation shaft 811 of the drive roll 81 at the time of conveyance of the second recording medium.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
