An information processing apparatus including a plurality of communication units connected to one another in a ring shape by a bus, each of the plurality of communication units being connected to one of a plurality of processing units, each of which executes a predetermined process, and transmitting data processed by the one of the plurality of processing units to the bus as a packet, the information processing apparatus transferring data between the processing units and processing the data in a predetermined order, wherein among the plurality of communication units, at least one communication unit comprises:
a holding unit configured to receive a packet including data and suspension information indicating whether or not a process for the data has been suspended, and to hold the received packet; a transmission unit configured to transmit a packet held in the holding unit to the bus; and a determination unit configured to perform a determination of whether or not data included in a packet held in the holding unit is to be processed by one of the plurality of processing units to which the at least one communication unit connects, a determination of whether, in a case where suspension information included in a packet received by the holding unit indicates that a process for data included in the received packet has been suspended, setting for the suspension information is performed by the holding unit or not, and a determination of whether, in a case where data included in a packet received by the holding unit is to be processed by the one of the plurality of processing units to which the at least one communication unit connects, a process for the included data is to be suspended or not, wherein the holding unit does or does not execute, according to the determination by the determination unit, a process for a held packet that is held by the holding unit, and the transmission unit transmits, to the bus, a packet for which the process has been executed or the held packet that is held by the holding unit.
