1379629 Unsaturated nitrites SNAM PROGETTI SpA 22 Aug 1972 [2 Sept 1971] 39050/72 Heading C2C Unsaturated nitriles are prepared by reacting an olefin, ammonia and oxygen (or a gaseous mixture including oxygen) in the presence of an antimony-based catalyst, subjecting the reaction products to condensation with water and recycling at least part of the gases incondensable in water to the reaction (i.e. one or more of CO 2 , CO, N 2 , Ar, and saturated C 1-4 hydrocarbons), the molar ratio of recycled incondensable gases to olefin in the feed mixture being from 3 : 1 to 50 : 1 respectively. The catalyst used in the ammoxidation may comprise, in addition to Sb, Fe, Sn, U or Ce. The examples describe the preparation of acrylonitrile from propylene. |
