1310409 Water - proofing CHEMISCHE FABRIK PFERSEE GmbH 9 July 1970 [19 July 1969] 33495/70 Heading D1P [Also in Division C3] Textiles are rendered water repellant by treatment with aqueous compositions comprising water soluble or water dispersible reaction products of (A) 1 mole of urea, ethylene-urea, propylene-urea, imino-urea, acetoguanidine, cyanamide, dicyandiamide, melamine, alkyl- (C 1-17 )-guanamine, arylguanamine and / or biuret; (B) 0.25-2.5 moles of a polyepoxide; and (C) 0.1-2 moles of an amine NR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP> in which R<SP>1</SP> is C 2-4 alkyl or C 2-5 alkanol and R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are each independently H, C 1-4 alkyl or C 2-5 alkanol with the proviso that the amine contains at least two reactive hydrogen atoms. The compositions may comprise an organosilicon compound as (B), e.g. one of formula: or alternatively a product, e.g. obtained by reacting cyanamide (4g), diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (35g) and triethanolamine (15g) may be used to cross-link a methylhydrogenpolysiloxane. Examples relate to the treatment of cotton and cotton-polyester fabrics. |
