1310429 Clips SOC ANON DES USINES CHAUSSON 17 Sept 1970 [24 Sept 1969] 44535/70 Heading E2B [Also in Division F4] In a shell and tube heat exchanger comprising a plurality of tubes 6 extending between end plates 4 and 5 in a shell 1 containing baffles 11 which constrain the fluid flowing over the tubes to follow a tortuous path between an inlet 2 and outlet 3, one or more of the tubes 6a are provided with obturating devices 12 in the form of spring clips each comprising a resilient longitudinally open parttubular portion 13 having two outwardly diverging flanges 14, 15. The obturating devices 12 extend between adjacent baffles and act as bracing members therefor. One of the diverging flanges 5 bears against the internal wall of the shell. The part-tubular portion 13 may be perforated.
