1312025 Reciprocating saw GARDNER-DENVER CO 28 Oct 1971 [5 May 1971] 50099/71 Heading B5L In a reciprocating saw, the drive member 60 for the saw blade 72, and a counterweight member 86 are driven from a rotary motor 18 and are reciprocated along a common axis. The arrangement is such that the members 60 and 86 reciprocate in oppositely moving telescopic relationship, one of them has bearing means for supporting the other and bearing means for the one member are provided on a housing of the saw. As described the saw includes a housing 12 in which a rotary vane motor 18 is mounted. Pressure fluid for driving the motor is admitted via passages 22, 24 in the housing when a valve 26 is manually operated. A crank-shaft 42 having oppositely directed throws 46, 48 is driven from the motor 18 via bevel gears 30, 32. A connecting rod 54 on the throw 46 drives the member 60 via a pin 61, and a connecting rod 56 on the throw 48 drives the counterweight member 86 via a pin 88. The member 60 is tubular and its inner surface acts as a bearing for the cylindrical counterweight member 86. The outer surface of the member 60 slides in a bearing 62 in the housing 12. Lubricating oil may be supplied to the moving parts of the mechanism in compressed air used to drive the motor 18. |
