<p>1314778 N-acyl caprolactams KANEGAFUCHI BOSEKI KK 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1970] 21862/71 Heading C2C N-acyl caprolactams having the formula are obtained by contacting an acyl cyclohexanone oxime of the formula wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl or ethyl group, in the gaseous or vapour phase with a silica-alumina catalyst. The reaction is suitably effected at a temperature of 100-350‹ C. and a pressure of 0À1-1000 nmHg with a rate of feed of the oxime, optionally in admixture with an inert gas, of 0À1-10 kg. per hour per kg. of catalyst. The catalyst may be in the form of a fixed or fluidized bed and the SiO 2 : Al 2 O 3 ratio of the catalyst is preferably from 10 : 90 to 99 : 1 by weight. #-Caprolactam may be produced as a by-product.</p> |
