Fungicidal mixed copper salts - of 8-hydroxyquinolines and either salicyclic acids or hydroxy pyridine carboxylic acids

Prepn. of fungicidal mixed Cu salts by treating copper hydroxide or a cupric salt with an 8-hydroxyquinoline opt. substd. by 1 or 2 halogens and either a salicylic acid opt. substd. by 1-3 F, Cl, Br atoms or a hydroxypyridine carboxylic acid opt. substd. by 1-3 halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, phenyl or NO2, in which the reaction medium is a liq. solvent in which >=2 of the reactants are sol. The acids may be reacted in the form of alkaline salts. Cu salts include carbonate, formate, acetate, propionate, chloride and sulphate. Solvents include water, alkanols, dioxan, acetone, tetrahydrofuran and their mixts. When one reactant is insol., yields may be improved by adding a surfactant.
