<p>Rubber mixt. contg. an ethylene/propylene/non-conjugated diene rubber is bonded firmly to a metal surface by treating the rubber surface with intermediate layer consisting of (I) an isocyanate or its derivative and (II) a halogenated or sulphohalogenated ethylene/propylene/non-conjugated diene rubber, contacting the treated rubber surface with the metal surface, and vulcanising. Pref. the metal surface is roughened and consists of Fe, Zn, Al, Cu or one of their alloys. Rubber (II) contains 1-80 mole% ethylene units and 20-99 mole% propylene units and 0.1-20 g mole units of another unsatd. monomer per 100 g moles ethylene and propylene units. The halogenated rubber (II) contains 13-50 wt % halogen, and the sulphohalogenated rubber contains 5-30 wt % halogen and 2-20 wt % sulphur. The isocyanate (I) contains two or more isocyanate gps. The mixt of (I/II) also contains a solvent and a vulcanising agent.</p> |
