[Also in Division H1] A rectangular waveguide transition is made by removing two opposite sidewalls of a rectangular waveguide section and bending the two remaining sidewalls, the apertures remaining in the waveguide being subsequently filled in. Fig. 2 shows the process immediately after the bending step which completely closes a slit 6 formed at one end of the section and modifies the shape of (originally) rectangular apertures 3 formed by removing opposite sidewalls. The apertures are subsequently filled by plates and the sides of the slit soldered together.</p> |
